MintGox, a new monthly online compensation series based on Bitcoin-centric games, will allow players to earn BTC for winning competitions as well as other prizes. With the current pandemic, the streaming services are what we rely on and these types of competition provide interactive opportunities and BTC rewards so let’s learn more in the latest Bitcoin news today.

With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading further and wider earlier this year, many live conferences and events were canceled which also means that it hit the crypto world as well. Some of the companies in the burgeoning crypto video game space planned to use these events to show the games and their competitive potential but eventually was forced to pivot. With that, MintGox was born, and according to Desiree Dickerson who is the VP of Business Operations at Lightning Labs as the event came to life once she connected on the call with Simon Cowell, the co-founder, and CEO of BTC payments platform ZEBEDEE. This is one of the companies that planned to showcase the gaming tech at events back this year.

Then they got to Christian Moss and Andre Neves of ZEBEDEE along with Jack Everitt from THNDR.GAMES and started planning a few MintGox events. The main event is streamed online from the official website which has a dashboard that points the visitors to other tournaments for a few crypto games and other interactive activities. The platform has created games like DonnerLab’s BTC Bounty Hunt, Mario Kart-esque BTC Rally, Satoshi’s Games’ battle royale, and THNDR. Game’s arcade-style BTC bounce. Dickerson said:

“Viewers can pay satoshis to drop power-ups directly in the game, helping players they support or boosting the bounty on players they want to see fall. MintGox is remarkable in that we’re tearing down the fourth wall between viewers and players. Now these groups can directly interact, which isn’t done anywhere else.”

Each event featured a prize pool of 5 million satoshis but there have been additional prizes like stocks from Mt. Stocks and BTC-centric playing card game SHAMory. MintGox takes place this upcoming weekend as Dickerson said. She continued that the year-ending event will have a bigger prize pool and other surprises as they are on the hunt for additional partners and sponsors to bring the new MintGox #010 to life. Dickerson said:

“We are also witnessing ongoing involvement between events, with a lot of popular players competing between events and becoming Bitcoin gaming ‘influencers,’ she explained. “Not only are we seeing an incredible amount of engagement and demand, but there is a very strong community forming around MintGox and the games that we feature.”
